A dreamy new Interactivity project on sleep, sensing, and somatic immersion is heading to DIS 2026 in Singapore ✨ 🫧🫧

We’re excited to share that our project, Splash into Bubbles: Designing Somatic Immersion for Sleep Onset through Progressive Sensory Fading, has been accepted to the Interactivity program at DIS 2026 in Singapore.
Supervised by Dr. Mirna Zordan, Splash into Bubbles explores how physiological computing can support the transition into sleep through a more somatic and less cognitively demanding experience. Rather than adding more stimulation, the project is designed around progressive sensory fading: visual feedback first anchors attention to breathing, sound then gently surrounds the body, and finally whole-body pneumatic tactile feedback becomes the dominant modality as the other sensory layers gradually recede.

We’re very happy to bring this work to the DIS community. It continues our interest in physiological computing, embodied interaction, and technologies for care, while opening a new direction around sleep, sensory withdrawal, and somatic immersion. If you’ll be in Singapore, we’d love for you to stop by and experience it with us.
We’re thrilled to share that Splash into Bubbles: Designing Somatic Immersion for Sleep Onset through Progressive Sensory Fading received the Interactivity Winner award at DIS 2026 in Singapore.

We’re very happy to see this work recognized by the DIS community, and proud to continue this line of research with Mirna Zordan and the wider Future Spaces Vision Lab. We can’t wait to keep exploring where physiological computing, somatic interaction, and care can go next. 🫧 💫
