Mediated Balancing

Triennale Milano organizes international exhibitions every three years, bringing together designers, architects, artists, and collectives to explore a central theme. The 2025 edition, titled "Inequalities," examines global disparities—economic, ethnic, geographic, and gender-based—through installations, exhibitions, and events.

At the invitation of chief curator Prof. Yongqi Lou, SUSTech School of Design joins four leading Chinese institutions—Tongji University, Tsinghua University, and others—in the China Section of Triennale Milano 2025.

Under the overarching theme of "Balancing Dynamics," Prof. Mirna Zordan from Future Spaces Vision Lab, in collaboration with Prof. Christiane M. Herr and Prof. Enza Migliore, presents "Mediated Balancing." This collection explores how design intersects with technology to foster understanding and transform the systems that define our lives.

Mediating Environments
——

Our flagship installation, “Minus x Minus = Plus: A Stage for Stress Sharing,” builds upon the concept that two negatives make a positive, metaphorically addressing the need to enhance human interactions to reduce stress levels. Complementing this, “Tell me Concrete Stories” explores the profound impact of concrete on urban life through the unique perspectives of construction workers. Additionally, “RESPIRA 2.0” is an interactive experience designed to provide users with an intuitive understanding of their breathing patterns. This installation aims to raise awareness of the breathing process through physiological training.
