Conference | IASDR 2025

A paper titled “Bridging the Gap: A Youth-Centered Co-Design Inquiry into Intergenerational Empathy” was presented at the IASDR 2025 conference (DESIGN NEXT). The paper was authored by Luhua Chen, Yuruo Zhang, Rui Qi, Wanlin Zhang, Xueliang Li, and Mirna Zordan from Southern University of Science and Technology and Cornell University. The workshop identified key challenges (such as limited contact with older adults, confusion between empathy and pity, and lack of reciprocal communication channels) and corresponding design opportunities for more equitable and reciprocal intergenerational relationships.
