One invited talk by Arch. Dr. Mirna Zordan at the Italian Lounge during the 57th CIFF Guangzhou

Arch. Dr. Mirna Zordan was invited to speak at The Italian Lounge during the 57th CIFF Guangzhou, a platform dedicated to Italian design, lifestyle, and wellbeing. Her talk, Bodies as Interfaces: Expanding the Vision Behind Spatial Experiences, addresses how architecture can be understood as a medium between bodies, spaces, and perception, and how emerging technologies are opening new ways to investigate spatial experience.
The presentation introduced physiological computing as an evidence-based approach for exploring design complexity, focusing on how signals such as electroencephalography (EEG), heart rate, respiration, and galvanic skin response can help reveal otherwise invisible aspects of human experience in space. By framing technology as a tool rather than an end in itself, the talk examined how sensing and visualization methods can contribute to the design of more responsive environments that better support comfort, accessibility, and health.
As part of the talk, Arch. Dr. Zordan also presented BRAIN-STORM STREAMING, a project together with Freddy Curiél shown at the Biennale Architettura 2025. The project demonstrates how brain activity can be visualized in relation to architectural environments, making cognitive load and stress responses perceptible and offering new possibilities for human-centered design practice.
