The RESPIRA Project Won the 2024 SGADC Bronze Award

Competition | 2024 Singapore Art Design Contest

RESPIRA is a science-based art project designed to provide immersive training and practice in diaphragmatic breathing, a powerful tool for supporting mental health first aid. Using a belt-mounted abdominal sensor, the project offers real-time feedback through a biometric fractal-based visualization. Fractal dimensions are calculated to create an interactive, responsive environment with patterns generated by engaging and restorative fractal ranges (D=1.3-1.7). By integrating art, science, and technology, RESPIRA explores the potential of digital environments to spread knowledge about daily mental health practices, offering powerful support for managing psychologically challenging conditions such as panic attacks and anxiety.
